Mission: The Texas Association of RC&D Areas shall provide support to each RC&D
Council in implementing Area Plans through state-wide education, leadership
and coordination in the development, conservation and wise use of human, financial
and natural resources.
Goals:
1. Coordinate planning of projects across Area boundaries.
- Appoint
committees as necessary to foster development of projects that contribute
to the goals of multiple RC&D Councils.
- Administer
grant funds from NRCS for projects that promote the RC&D program
- Administer
the Supplemental Environmental Project (SEP) and coordinate the program with
the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) implementation.
- Lead
the West Texas Telecommunication Project (WTTP) Education & Outreach efforts
for NRCS.
2. Increase
the capacity and leadership of all Council members.
- Provide
specialized training in strategic planning, development of by laws and organization
structure.
- Host
an Annual Meeting that provides additional training.
- Encourage
individual Councils through speaking engagements.
3. Serve
as an advocate for the RC&D program.
- Represent
the member councils and areas to act as the Council's point of contact to
the relevant state and federal agencies.
- Produce
newsletters that promote the accomplishments of the RC&D Councils.
- Develop
and host a web site that readily provides information on the RC&D program
and the Councils.
- Serve
as a voice of the member Councils to the NRCS State Conservationist.
- Promote
the accomplishments of the RC&D program to elected officials.
- Actively
participate on the State Technical Committee.
